about mario gifs

I'm not very experienced in the programming field of things, but I love the internet scene.

Back in the day, I begain my html designing on freeservers. I remeber when my personal site first got hosted, and I wanted something else. I decided to create a clique, an adoption centre. And it just hit me, a Mario Adoption Centre. I searched the net, making sure there was not such a thing as another, and made my own. It was in Decemeber 2000 , Mario Gifs was on a freeserver known as "Chickpages" and lasted awhile there. It was a very simple layout, very green, very basic. There were only about 20 animations for adopting. It was a basic clique - people signed up, and put up the code, I checked their site to see if the code was up, and added them to the members list. The adoption center grew. A lot. I changed the layout a little, and added 4 frames. But it remained it's green theme.

One day, I got an email asking to host Mario Gifs. I happily accepted, and moved from Chickpages, to precious-sanity.com (now closed). Amy had owned the domain, and it was only for hosting. After being hosted, Mario gifs grew massively. I knew how to make my own graphics with MS - paint, so I was able to make banners and etc. I was constantly adding members, and checking the list and deleting members. It was a hassle. I was getting 20 submissions a day, and if I didn't get online for a couple days, the submissions piled up. Eventually, I made a second layout, making it number 2. And added many, many more animations, and spiffed up everything. This layout stayed up for a very long time. My personal site was hosted at a different location, and it was very popular along with Mario Gifs. Having these two sites, I gained popularity and actually became "known" around the net as the Mario Gif girl. Eventually - I closed down my personal site and learned about blogs. My host had to close her domain, so my personal site was lost. It had been up and running for about 10 months. I wanted a domain by then, and Dad got me one, which was called jambled.nu. I asked Amy if I could move Mario Gifs onto my domain, and she begged me to stay at hers, and I agreed (I love Amy and Precious-sanity). The site was just fine being there, I just felt bad using her space when I had space of my own. Plus - it was just... annoying having two sites located at complete different places.

Eventually - I became frustrated with this adoption site. Everyday, I had to add members. I just could not check it because I was lazy and had no time. Some people helped me with checking the members, I lost contact with them. For those of you who helped me with this place so long ago, I thank you for your assistance to me. I slowly became tired of Mario Gifs, and went to my ftp and deleted everything. The site was closed, and I had not put up a page on my index saying so. I got many emails and IMs about it, it was far too popular and loved by many viewers. Months after I had closed it, I was still getting IMs and emails about it. I had about 500 members through the first year of owning Mario Gifs.

So, for the first time, Mario Gifs closed down. However, months later I started to miss it and brought it back to my domain at the time, jambled.nu. It was brought with a new layout and much more animations. However, it lasted for awhile, but only to be closed again when I got my next domain, utopist.org. Having Utopist starting February 2003, I finally decided to reopen Mario Gif Adoption (AGAIN) as I begain to miss it, and wanted to keep my originality stronger. These images somehow bring back memories of my past, playing these games as a child with my older sister (I never got so far and we'd fight over it oftenly... but thats another story). Then came along my third domain, Orinoco.nu... which expired back around January of '07. And now, I have ANOTHER domain, bethtrippin.com. This is where Mario Gifs and my blog will remain. I signed up for the next 5 years, and I'll continue to keep it from then on.

For those of you who remember the old Mario Gifs Adoption, you have been around for quite along time! And this place used to be soooo crappy, didn't it? It's grown into a better design... and this time I spell checked! haha!!!

If anyone out there finds another Mario gifs site, please email me and tell me the url. I don't want anyone using my idea. This was the first place for adopting Mario gifs, I know it is. I know it doesn't particularly matter, afterall.. I didn't make these animations. But it's my idea.. And now I'll shut up, Thank you for visiting!

Just remember.. Super Mario Bros and all of the characters represented in this site are trademarks of Nintendo. I am not affiliated with them, they don't endorse this site, blah, blah, blah, please don't sue me!
